You have a solid setup with a 12700k, EVGA RTX 3080, and MAG B660M motherboard. Upgrading to 32GB RAM would likely boost performance, especially if you plan to stream. Filling all slots with dual-channel RAM is a good choice for stability and speed. The 3080 with 10GB is still capable but may feel limited for demanding tasks like streaming. Consider adding more RAM if you notice performance drops.
Regardless of the situation, you'll be set with dual channel. Adding extra RAM will give you two amplifiers per channel. Only when you require more memory than you currently have.
Game and settings vary widely.
Upgrade costs can be high.
Performance drops quickly at low settings.
Long waits and lag are common issues.
High-end models may still be needed soon.
It's been near this level sometimes, around 7 or 10 GB used. That happens when a few Chrome tabs are open without gaming. I used to run Ultra settings during games, but stopped because errors kept appearing.
Check your RAM consumption. If you're short, consider adding more; otherwise, it should suffice. For the 3080, the 10GB VRAM was necessary because the 4 sticks on AM4 rarely hit 3200MT. At ultrawide 1440p in AAA titles, it wasn't sufficient. It depends on your requirements—1080p FPS works, and many games run well at 1440p.
Right now, I’ve looked into it. My system reports 12Gb RAM usage while running RDR2 at 1440p, with 4.7GB of the 10GB GPU VRAM consumed. Everything is set to maximum. When I send this text, my display starts flickering.
