Hi, I’m looking into using a VPN to access US content while I’m based in the UK. It seems my ISP throttles my connection, and VPNs seem to help. What do you think others recommend? I’ve heard some VPNs can be installed directly on your router for extra security. I own a Netgear N600 with dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and a 60MB connection. My ISPs are bundled into one package, but my N600 works as Wi-Fi and the wired router if needed. If you notice anything else, please let me know. Thanks ahead!

TunnelBear offers 1.5 gigabytes monthly for a small fee, and you can receive them by tweeting them—it's completely free.

The experience with virgin in the UK was quite disappointing. I switched to a different streaming option for US and worldwide use, though I didn’t share details here. Tunnlebear functioned, but VPN speeds weren’t ideal for long sessions.

It really comes down to your needs. Do you prefer paying regularly for quicker speeds with a VPN, or would you rather use a free option that offers slower performance?
