It's been a while since I assembled my first custom PC, and now I'm thinking about an upgrade. A quick note: I'm not a dedicated gamer and fine with average specs. My current setup includes: case, Thermaltake H34 CPU, Intel Core i5-6400, T4 motherboard, 8GB DDR4 memory, GTX 1070, 8GB PSU, and XFX 650W power supply. I'm planning to upgrade the CPU first and possibly add more RAM. A new motherboard would only be necessary if it's essential, otherwise I'd stick with this model due to cost in Brazil. Regarding the CPU, should I consider two more HyperX DDR4 8GB units? I'm a bit worried about compatibility. Also, I just wanted to mention that I'm open to other suggestions beyond CPU and memory. Thanks!
Be on the lookout for a B450 + R7 2700 offer under $200 during Black Friday. I think they’ll still be in stock. Last year’s prices were X370 + R5 1600/R7 1700 for $149. You can reuse your RAM or add another $60 for a solid 16GB package.
The best CPUs to pair with that motherboard are the i7 6700 or 7700. You're unlikely to find reasonable deals on those models.
Other great options include matching your build with a compatible GPU and processor pair. Let me know if you'd like suggestions!
