Oh! Well, if it was free, awesome. It's not like there's no benefit at 1080p. Like I said before, it may buy you some extra detail settings in certain unusually demanding games. Maxed out AA, Nvidia HairWorks, etc. Maybe you can max out Crysis 3 at 60 FPS. You can always use Nvidia DSR to render all your games at 4K, just to give the cards something to do. Two 970's can probably keep most games at 60 FPS even at 4K.
It's fine, I also play at 1080p sometimes. Occasionally 5760x1080 as well. (Surround)
Sli970 offers the best balance for AAA games at full settings. The feedback about it isn’t great. For your setup, open Nvidia Experience, then go to games and adjust preferences. Use super sampling for better performance. Render in 4k for visual quality, but also for sharp details. It’s like getting a high-res image that fits the screen well—looks much better than a standard view. You’ll see clearer results, though it demands more power. Running at 60 fps in 4k won’t be possible without sacrificing some detail, but super sampling makes up for that loss. I ran 970 SLI on my rig with 3D at 144hz.
