Consider using the Ryzen 3 3300X or Ryzen 5 2600X to build your RTX 3060.
For your needs, the Ryzen 5 2600X offers better performance compared to the Ryzen 3 3300X at a similar price.
I think you either had good luck with a GPU shuffle or you spent all your money turning your setup into a slow PC with lots of colors that don’t help performance. The 2600 is terrible because Zen is bad and 3300 is okay for a budget build but might cause bottlenecks with a 3060. Don’t waste time on Intel—just go with the 10400(F). It’s usually affordable and matches the performance of Zen2.
You're referring to a chip that performs well but isn't exceptional. It's a solid choice without standout features.
The EH model performs just ahead of the I5 since the 2600x offers such a significant discount, making it unrealistic to spend close to $100 for only a 5% boost in single-core speed.
Haha, no worries about spending a lot on RGB. I'm just aiming for a setup under $700. I've been eyeing the i5-10400F for a while, but I'm unsure about getting it since a brand new one is around $50 more than the R3 3300x/R5 2600x. Plus, LGA1200 boards tend to be pricier than AM4 ones.
I appreciate your interest in culture. There aren't many other components besides the GPU available. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gRQ3qp You seem confident you can get a 10400f? It’s possible you were searching elsewhere, as I could find a budget-friendly option around $150. The RGB case stands out as a great value since it includes four fans. Sometimes RGB offers the best overall price.
The remaining items I have are my old PC case that I intend to repurpose, a 1TB 7.2k RPM HDD from my previous build, and a Corsair CV450 I purchased on Amazon, which I plan to swap in for a CV650. Since the Canadian dollar is weaker than the US dollar, a brand new i5-10400f here would be worth at least $200 CAD.
