I'm considering whether to purchase my own router or stick with the one from my ISP. Since I lack experience setting up routers, I'm curious if a personal router provides better stability, speed, and security. It could also give me more control over my network, such as adjusting settings or managing devices better. On the other hand, the ISP's router is straightforward to use and might suit basic needs. What do you think? Should I invest in a personal router, or are the differences not that important?

How much does your ISP be charging you for their router? This is usually an important consideration when deciding your next steps.

What brand or model did your ISP provide? Often what customers complain about is the gateway's Wi-Fi function. However, it has been getting better in recent years.
The benefit of having your gateway or router is that you gain more control and avoid monthly rental fees, but if you encounter an issue, your ISP may shift blame to your equipment. Do you feel confident in handling troubleshooting on your own?

I'm considering this because the stability isn't strong and the Wi-Fi speed falls from 2 gig to between 250 and 500 Mbps.

Zyxell but which model number?
For Netflix or YouTube streaming, it needs only 30Mbps, significantly less than 250 Mbps. How many users can stream videos simultaneously? What is your current internet speed?

When I watch YouTube on my LG C4 TV it buffers or it doesn't load at all. My cousin and me both are connected via Wi-Fi, we have a 2 gig speed subscription, and I'm considering getting the ASUS RT-AX58U - Extendable router.
