I'm feeling unsure about all the video editing tools available. I want to focus on editing and animations for a short documentary project in school. Also, could you recommend some free tutorials to help beginners? Thanks a lot!

I wasn't sure about Vegas anymore. Premiere Pro is great for editing, but After Effects offers more advanced options if needed. Use After Effects for better effects when Premiere can't handle it.

Adobe Premiere is highly recommended, as it's generally straightforward to use. You can obtain it from Adobe's site and either try the trial version or purchase it.
