Consider using a Gen 5 PSU for an AM4 build?
I intend to purchase an FSP Hydro GT Pro Gold 1000w PSU for $133. I'm unsure whether to opt for the Gen 5 version, which would cost $6 more, or not. I worry it might not fit my AM4 build. Additionally, regarding the FSP Hydro G Pro Gold 1000w priced at $150, is it preferable to buy the non-modular model instead?
I would choose the PCIe 5 version since it matches the ATX 3 configuration. Right now there’s almost no need to avoid an ATX 3 PSU. I’d also prefer a modular design over a non-modular one. Experiencing both types has been much simpler and more comfortable. Plus, there are more reviews for the G Pro than the GT Pro.
An alternative within a similar price range is the Thermaltake Thoughpower GF A3.
Where is a 1000w PSU required? You can operate anything with an 850w unit!
For certain people it’s about personal taste, for others it’s about lasting performance through multiple versions… who cares. Either way, I wouldn’t judge.
I'll examine it carefully. Your feedback is appreciated.
I fully understand that point. Still, I strongly think we shouldn't cut corners on our PSU during PC assembly. I picked the 1000w model with a forward-thinking approach. Should I ever upgrade to a more powerful system, I can concentrate all my efforts on the GPU and CPU.
When future-proofing is necessary, opting for a PCIe5.0 power supply ensures compatibility with upcoming hardware demands.
