ubuntu and selling. Delete the first drive to clear data from the USB and check its contents using lsblk or cat /proc/partitions. Perform a secure wipe with shred on the device, then zero it out. The command you mentioned is correct: shred /dev/sdX -v -f -z --iterations=7.
