I can choose between a solid-state drive or an extra 8GB of RAM, both of which help more in gaming and daily tasks. Each upgrade changes things differently: more RAM speeds up multitasking and game performance, while additional memory eases smoothness during demanding applications. Your current setup already has decent specs, so either choice will improve your experience—just decide based on what you need most.
Choose the SSD for the boot disk to boost performance. For casual users, you probably won’t need 8 GB for starting pages.

Your setup is quite a significant improvement overall. The Ryzen processor relies heavily on RAM, and running it in single-channel mode limits its potential. Meanwhile, using a regular HDD slows down your system. Upgrading the RAM would likely boost performance the most.
More speed or greater quantity could be preferable depending on needs. Using two different RAM sticks is acceptable and often recommended for improved performance.
It's helpful to skip focusing on the initial item when aiming for more overall.
I’m tired of the frustration caused by frequent Windows updates damaging my devices. I wouldn’t install an SSD just to avoid that risk, but it’s worth considering other advantages. Lower loading times, reduced stuttering, and overall smoother performance are real perks. Even without extra RAM, these improvements can make a noticeable difference.
