Consider upgrading your laptop to a 32GB DDR4 RAM version.
Hello everyone, my wife’s laptop originally came with 16GB of DDR4 3200 RAM. With the current low prices, should I upgrade to 32GB now? She doesn’t seem to need more than 16GB right now, but as she uses software like Illustrator and Photoshop in the future, I think she might benefit from it. Is DDR4 being replaced by DDR5, making this a good time to upgrade? Or are DDR4 SODIMM units likely to be available at reasonable prices in about three years? Essentially, could the cost of DDR4 gradually rise again from its present level? Thanks!
It won't rise again because most products follow a pricing curve that begins high, drops as they age, and then increases again when they become outdated. For example, three years after 16 gigabytes is still within a reasonable range, and DDR4 prices will likely stay stable for another few years.
That's useful information. I also checked the current DDR3 rates, and they remain quite affordable. It seems DDR4 will likely stay inexpensive for a while too.
Only when you examine the DDR2 it's similar to DDR3, suggesting it might face a cost rise in the future.
heres a visionary example of what i was talking about in my first post
