I considered switching from my 300i to a Mustang Gamma, then spending $5 on an Avenger. I also looked into a cutlass—would it be worth upgrading to either the Avenger or Mustang? And what about the cutlass itself?
These types of questions are quite personal... I’d recommend renting each ship you’re considering for a week in Arena Commander. If it meets your needs, you can decide to purchase it.
I succeeded and I adore the Avenger! It’s unclear if you should include weapons in the Avenger for the current universe, but if you’re interested, I can suggest various firearms and missiles you could add. You’ll be able to incorporate all the options you want.
Right now you can't modify ship loadouts for the universe unless you find a way around the system. When you load into your hanger and pick weapons, stick to what fits (up to size 2 on the wings—Avenger wings and nose gun can't be changed). Pick any missiles you like (any size 1 or 2 can go under the wings). Load into any arena commander game (offline or with players). Exit to the main menu once you're in, and your loadout should already be on your ship. Let me know if this helps!
Keep what you have and just collect some RECs, testing those ships before committing. You've got plenty of time before the launch to improve. Absolutely wait and observe what changes happen once beta is released. At least they'll be mostly ready by then. This lets you try them out by earning them and figure things out before they're gone. They'll notify you when they intend to remove the upgrades, similar to how Squadron 42 was phased out at the end of the month.
Aligning with others, REC offers solid value in gameplay as you consistently earn a decent income across various arena commander online modes. Since weapon sets evolve frequently, experimenting with different ones is wise rather than relying on outdated versions that may become less effective. Sorry, but the Endeavour isn't a capital ship—it mainly serves as a large research vessel.
Technically, there are just two main carrier classes for the UEE. The Bengal-class Carrier and the Retribution-class Dreadnought. The word "capital" has been broadened to encompass anything as large or bigger than the Idris. This misunderstanding isn't your fault—it's being spread by CIG themselves.
