You have the option to revert if you're not satisfied. Your information will be preserved, so you won't need to create a backup (though it's strongly recommended).

I checked the first hour updates for Windows 10 and found no problems except occasional high usage from 8, 8.1 which is 100% disk consumption.

Thank you for the guidance. I had no idea you could revert things back.

No harm in it unless you have less than 4GB ram. I've heard it uses more than it's supposed to with Cortana doing shit. It's just your preference because there's essentially no performance difference other than what I said above, hardly any compatibility issues, and I've never heard of people having errors or getting broken OS. So if you want the interface changes (I personally love the new WX Start menu and Task Manager layout that came with W8), then go for it. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter.

Consider upgrading for the newest OS version. However, if you're fully satisfied with W7 and don't mind the lack of DX12 or performance improvements, you might prefer to stay. W10 still receives less developer support compared to W7, and most programs should function on W7. Ultimately, upgrade unless you're very confident with it.

I personally never noticed my PC reaching over 2-2.5 GB of RAM while idle. It seems there could be many unnecessary background programs consuming more than 4 GB, or possibly a virus.

This means there would be very little left for games or many browser windows, etc.
