I assembled my second PC in January using AMD, and I’m sharing my details—currently running a 7600X. Should I move to the 9800X3D now or hold off until the Ryzen 10th generation? With AM5 becoming common in the 10th gen and possibly beyond, it looks like a solid upgrade path ahead.

Value depends on personal perspective. What hardware are you using? Unless you're aiming for a 4080/5080/5090 range, boosting your CPU isn't essential and may not be worthwhile for lower-end models like the 4060.

The Ryzen 9000 line isn't the ninth generation; it's actually the sixth because Ryzen releases new CPU models every two years, with the higher-end ones being APUs. The 1k series is an APU, not a separate CPU line. You're likely already using a strong processor, mainly limited by your graphics card and display. A 9800X3D would only be practical if you're targeting 360Hz+ performance with your GPU.

I don't see a strong need to move from Zen 4 to Zen 5. Zen 5 is excellent for starting fresh. We're not sure if Zen 6 will come on AM5, but once we find out, there will be Zen 5x3D available for you to explore and revisit the topic.

Upgrading often helps fix performance issues like lag or low FPS. Are you experiencing slowdowns or poor frame rates in the game?

Using the 7000/8000/9000 pattern is simpler and more precise, even though it uses slightly more characters

If your resolution exceeds 1080p, respond with a 1

I intend to enhance to 1440p and aim for a flagship device within the next couple of years, such as a 4080 or 7800XT.

I focused on achieving a 7900 GRE score, the 7600X was sufficient for that.

I'm planning to upgrade until at least 2026. My goal is to get a CPU paired with a GPU capable of handling 1440p resolution. That's why I reached out here. I aim for an X3D processor then, and ideally something like an RX 8700XT when it becomes available or a 5080.
