Hello, I need to upgrade my CPU soon. My setup has an Intel 8th gen 8700K and a Nvidia RTX 3090, but I'm unsure whether to wait for Meteor Lake or Raptor Lake. Both will offer significant performance gains from the 8th to the newer generations. Location: Europe. Budget: Unlimited (depends on compatibility with the RTX 3090). I'm planning to shop online. Best regards, Quarnds.

I expect a wait for the 15th generation. If you need an upgrade, just go for it. Have you thought about the AMD 7000 series?

Meteor Lake won't arrive as a standalone CPU for desktops. A 12-14 generation release would represent a significant improvement, contingent on cost and availability. The next generation after 14 hasn't arrived yet.

I haven't explored AMD much, as I've never used an AMD system. What do you suggest from AMD?

It depends on your budget and requirements, but they should have a strong alternative for you.

For a pure gaming setup, the 7800x3d is essentially the top choice currently. Otherwise, we require additional details to determine the best fit. We still need more information about the use case.

Meteor Lake operates solely on a mobile platform. The 15th generation model is named Arrow Lake and will implement the updated naming system.

I’m a dedicated PC gamer who occasionally dives into tough games like Warzone 2, Doom Eternal, and Cyberpunk.

Most game titles stem from Modded Minecraft, Blizzard titles, ID Software projects, and Cyberpunk releases.

I suggest moving to a 7800X3D. For those focused on gaming, it’s presently the top CPU choice for dedicated use. I’m using a 5800X3D myself and intend to stay there for some time. I also changed from an Intel i7-6700K to AMD, which was a significant shift but ultimately very advantageous.
