This machine is intended for media use—Netflix, YouTube, and similar content—without gaming. The listing mentions an E5500 processor, but I haven’t purchased it yet. I’m wondering if upgrading to a Q8200 would be worthwhile. I’m in Sweden, and on a local auction site I found a Q8200 for $5. Should I upgrade or is it pointless? As I mentioned, I haven’t bought anything; the auction has five days left and one day left on the PC, so I might buy the CPU before the PC arrives. I could also opt for a "buy it now for $30" instead of bidding at $20 with no activity. Additionally, I’m considering a faster boot drive to ensure the Dell OptiPlex 780 doesn’t support M.2.

They’re both mediocre processors, yet they’re affordable for the Q8200 price point.

Ensure accuracy; a SATA SSD is suitable as well.

Are there quicker Core2 Quads on the market? The Q8200 tends to be slower, but even it should work well for video playback. I own an older HP dc7900 SFF running a BSEL (tape) modded Core2 Quad Q6600 at 3.0GHz, which was originally powered by a Pentium Dual Core E5200 that wasn’t sufficient.
