Your MacBook uses an older Intel CPU and runs the latest available OS. Security risks from unsupported systems are a concern. Consider switching to Linux if you want better protection and more control.

OCLP generally functions effectively and can provide several years of support. Since it isn’t officially supported for Windows 11, obtaining version 10 with extended support extends your usage period. How much time do you plan to use the system? Are you considering Linux or macOS?

I plan to use this system as a light work laptop for several years. It seems limited—only 8 GB RAM and a 2-core Intel processor—so I’ll likely switch to Linux. I’d prefer staying with Apple if possible.

The decision on which operating system to select hinges on the applications you employ and their specific needs. Certain programs offer different versions for various OS platforms, while others provide alternatives. Not every scenario performs equally across the major operating systems. If an option like OCLP is available, consider it (though uncertainty remains). Otherwise, you’re likely dealing with unsupported software, exposing you to all associated risks. Unlike Microsoft, Apple no longer prioritizes x86 OS support, meaning no updates will be provided by Apple—such as extended support for Windows 10 or additional years for businesses that pay.

You should consider using Linux instead. It works well on Intel Macs, though I haven't tested it personally. Ubuntu typically performs nicely there.

I mainly use it for basic tasks like browsing YouTube and checking emails, not for heavy computing.

It's an older device, so whatever you input will be minimal.
