For what purpose it remains suitable for gaming and similar activities at the moment. I plan to hold off until new platforms arrive before upgrading to the latest hardware.

I once played with a 3470 Gaming, possibly relying on certain games. Encoding videos for my 3rd generation PC works fine. My current i5 6400 feels much more reliable than my previous setup.

Absolutely, everything seems too expensive or out of stock. I’m still running on a Sandy Bridge Xeon setup that’s performing perfectly.

CPUs and motherboards are relatively easy to source these days. Memory capacity has improved but hasn't reached the lows of 2017. I’d likely upgrade if you were me. A Ryzen 7 5800x would be a solid starting point—it would boost your resources, offer better performance per cycle, and run faster. It also avoids the limitations introduced by security features like Skylake.
