Hey! You've been using your PC mainly for SolidWorks and gaming lately. I've noticed some frame rate drops in League of Legends and GTA V, and the overall performance isn't as smooth as before. You're thinking about upgrading to get a noticeable boost. Based on your setup—Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1080, MSI Z97 SSD, and the RAM setup—you're in a good position. If you want the biggest impact, consider investing in a mid-range gaming GPU like an RTX 3060 or similar, paired with a solid CPU and enough RAM. This should help smooth out the performance issues you're seeing. What do you think?
I don't really feel the same way. If you're not in urgent need of those components, just hold off a bit. Still, keeping that perspective means there will always be something better or more affordable later, and you'll end up not doing much. Two main points: 1) the Ryzen 5 3600 is a solid CPU for its cost. 2) your money should go where you think it should.
It varies based on your budget. Want it more affordable? Choose the 3600—it's a great option. If you're okay spending a bit extra, consider @TofuHaroto's advice and wait for the 4th generation models.
I understand your point. However, when opportunities are near, delaying isn't beneficial.
In the case of $$ I'm not sure what the optimal is. From what I see on benchmarks, upgrading from my current i5 to a Ryzen gives about three times better performance in theory, while spending twice as much on an i7 won't really make a big difference. Am I right? Gen 4 sounds good, but what about when it becomes available? And what about the RAM?
