Hi everyone, looking for some advice on swapping out my X670 AORUS ELITE AX (rev. 1.0). It seems to be faulty, so I’m considering getting a replacement at the same model or something different entirely. Any ideas about other X670 models in the $315-400 range that offer similar features? Thanks a lot! Also, I noticed I might go with the Asus Strix ROG B650E-E instead. It’s $81 compared to my previous price, and since it’s from Asus, I feel more confident. They have better software, especially for RGB, and more PCIe Gen 5 slots—two on-board M.2 and one x16 slot. Appreciate the help!

B650E-E Strix often stands out as a top choice in its price bracket. It offers more features than the X670 Aorus Elite, including a POST code, improved VRM, and similar pricing. The B650E Master is also a solid pick, but the B650E-E Strix’s PCIe slot arrangement seems superior.

Sure thing! Oh sure, that would help. The main issue is my RAM isn't showing up in the QVL. I own an F5-6000J3636F16GA2-TZ5RK Trident Z5 RGBDDR5-6000 CL36-36-36-96 1.35V32GB (2x16GB) Intel XMP. It looks like it should be there, but I got the Intel model instead of the EXPO one. Still, it was listed in my X670 Aorus Elite QVL, so maybe it’s a problem on my end.

Unlikely. It matches the same PCB used in the Trident Z Neo kit within the same speed category for G.Skill QVLs on that Strix board. I wouldn't assume XMP would work automatically, as ASUS didn't invest much effort into the board's XMP settings and often misinterprets them. The fix is to enter XMP parameters manually, which should resolve the issue.

Some improvements in VRM design can enhance performance, while the Gigabyte board's VRM might be adequate for basic use. A POST code helps identify hardware issues, making it useful for troubleshooting.

It’s not essential, both options are more than enough for a 7950X. If they cost the same, opt for the more efficient one. Much simpler troubleshooting is possible. The key difference lies in whether you have a check engine light or an OBD-II port—you can manage with just the lights, but it’s much better to know precisely what caused the issue.

It seems your RAM is actually compatible. I just mistakenly entered it wrong. I’ll stick with the Asus board if it’s in stock and close to the price I paid for the Aorus X670. Thanks for the tip—I had no idea such a board was available.

Interesting, most of what I've learned suggests my B650 AORUS Pro AX handled even a 7950x fine, which made me doubt my research. Got it—this comparison really fits. Appreciate the clarification.
