A few days have gone by and the situation remains unchanged. The thermal efficiency has dropped back to its previous level. It throttles rapidly now. The clock shuts down immediately under load, unlike before when there was a noticeable warm-up phase without any drop. Why this happened? It improved significantly after reattaching the cooler. However, it has gradually deteriorated. It seems the heat spreader may have loosened slightly—shouldn’t be an issue if you tighten it. This wasn’t an issue before. Is the thermal paste the cause? I moved a tiny bit of paste around, but after mounting it looked almost normal again. I’m planning to get the Aeronaut. Still curious about whether HY510 is sufficient.

Check the spring screws on the card for any tightening space. Review the software currently in use. Try FurMark—it displays GPU and hotspot temperatures.

I considered Thermal Grizzly Aeronaut first, but Kryonaut and Hydronaut offer better performance metrics (12.5 W/mk, 11.8 W/mk versus 8.5 W/mk for Aeronaut) without significantly higher cost. Does this really matter for my 15 to 35 watt chip? Grok mentions that during thermal throttling—when things get hotter—it can affect stability, and the upgrade might help.

Avoid spending extra by getting the Honeywell- PTM7950 Thermal Pad in the right size. I bought the listing I shared for my GPU, and it performed flawlessly.

I haven't really checked these products before. I probably don’t want to complicate things too much. The main benefit seems to be how long they last, but I’m okay with just a few years and can reapply whenever needed. A thermal pad might not be the best choice since it doesn’t stay in contact well for my stability needs. It does melt nicely under pressure, though—not right away, but still important for stability. The ratings are around 8.5 W/mk, which isn’t much better. Aliexpress isn’t available in my country, and most options are pricey except for one. I think regular thermal paste is the way to go. I’m choosing Aeronaut over Kryonaut because higher W/mk works better at higher wattages. Let me know if you have any thoughts.

It offers lasting durability combined with exceptional efficiency. It adapts its state to a liquid form when heated.

I mentioned earlier that AliExpress isn’t allowed in my country. The site only works with a VPN. There’s another local site that lists Honeywell and matches the price on that Amazon link, but I’m not sure I’d trust it as much as Amazon. I’ve heard the PTM7950 is fairly costly but the prices I see are a bit higher than Aeronaut, which isn’t even the top paste. Still, it’s the smallest size I need for my CPU. Probably best not to overanalyze. I don’t like the issue of it melting easily. What matters most is whether it really beats Aeronaut and matches its price. From what I see, it doesn’t seem to do better in my setup. I don’t have a high-power CPU, but I’d like improved contact. I’m not sure how the cooler or pressure will affect things.
