The clock shuts down immediately under load, unlike before when there was a noticeable warm-up phase without any drop. Why this happened? It improved significantly after reattaching the cooler. However, it has gradually deteriorated. It seems the heat spreader may have loosened slightly—shouldn’t be an issue if you tighten it. This wasn’t an issue before. Is the thermal paste the cause? I moved a tiny bit of paste around, but after mounting it looked almost normal again. I’m planning to get the Aeronaut. Still curious about whether HY510 is sufficient.
I considered Thermal Grizzly Aeronaut first, but Kryonaut and Hydronaut offer better performance metrics (12.5 W/mk, 11.8 W/mk versus 8.5 W/mk for Aeronaut) without significantly higher cost. Does this really matter for my 15 to 35 watt chip? Grok mentions that during thermal throttling—when things get hotter—it can affect stability, and the upgrade might help.
