Upgrading from the 5800X offers potential performance gains, but compatibility depends on your motherboard support. The Aorus Elite B450 supports newer models like B550 or X570, so checking compatibility is key before making a change.

Performance evaluated across various domains: gaming, video creation, and computational tasks. Video production and computation may be involved, though costs could influence the scope.

From a gaming standpoint, spending all that cash on an outdated system doesn't add value. If you're aiming for the next step, consider moving to AM5 or the upcoming Intel designs.

It doesn't seem wise to pay extra for just a few more frames per second. You likely already have a top-tier setup, and further upgrades beyond a 4090 are probably limited. The main improvements might come from better accessories like peripherals, audio equipment, or ergonomic furniture.

I’ve seen the Apple Air with the 5800X and noticed the price dropping. But as others mentioned, there’s not much extra value left. I’d only change it if it stops working or you really need PCI Gen 4 slots. Otherwise, this system should stay great for a while longer.

For gaming it doesn't add value to go 5900X. The right choice depends on the type of game you play; 5800X3D could be a big step forward for some, but not for others. Mostly simulators and multiplayer titles gain more from the 3D VCache. ESport shooters usually perform similarly on both chips, often preferring the higher clock speed over extra cache benefits.

Absolutely, the cost-benefit ratio is quite low. My current setup has a 5900X, which seems excessive.

3D VCache will improve speed, especially with more than eight cores on Windows. It works best for many games and applications, but some may still experience slowdowns if they run on a single core or if background tasks interfere.

X3D works well only in certain titles. Beyond that, you're essentially running a Dell setup by adding one. Feedback indicates a noticeable improvement in some games, though it's important to note that all tested CPUs are standard. Once you push the 5900X to its limits and ensure proper cooling, it becomes extremely powerful. I switched between X3D and 5900X several times; I prefer the 12-core version mainly for its significantly faster clock speed.
