I recently assembled a second PC for a dual setup and decided to review thermal performance today. I included a photo of the build in the PC part picker if it appears correctly. My current system has five fans, but one of the Corsair 3 front intake fans that came with the case isn’t working—it only displays RGB and doesn’t spin. I spent the day troubleshooting, but it seems to be faulty. During testing, my Ryzen 5 5600X reached 79–80°C during a Steam download of Destiny 2, and 81–82°C while playing at 1080p on a 144Hz display. I usually upgrade my PC every four years or so, depending on how it performs. Should I invest in a better CPU cooler? I’m using the stock AMD model. If so, what are your recommendations? I’m considering the Be Quiet Pure Rock 2 Black but am unsure if a new cooler is necessary.
I use the AMD cooler on my 5600X as well, but the Wraith Spire RGB with copper accents. I found it on Amazon for around $20, it fits nicely without taking up much space. The RGB ring looks nice and the temperature stays around 60% (though I don’t know the exact speed). When all processors are busy with Capture One or Photoshop, it rarely goes past 75°C. In games I’ve seen it reach about 73°C a few times. I’d be surprised if it hit 82°C or higher, as that would raise my concern.
I’ve been really interested in this Be Quiet Power rock 2 cooler because it’s only $45 on Amazon and I think I can set it up myself. I’d love to hear more opinions.
