Checklist: RYzen 5 3600 MSI B450 Tomahawk Max 16GB Ripjaws V 3600MhzCL19 RX 580 Seasonic Focus Gold 750W. I’m planning a GPU upgrade (RX 6600xt) but haven’t bought the card yet. Are there any other reasons to upgrade? I notice potential gains like PCIe 4.0 support for the new card, better RAM latency, and the processor is straightforward. Still unsure which upgrade matters most for my needs. Mostly gaming on this setup.
PCIe 4.0 isn't visible on a 6600 XT. It's only worth considering if you install a PCIe 4.0 SSD and handle large files frequently. Smaller latency RAM might help, but it doesn't justify the cost. You could attempt to adjust the settings yourself, though you should confirm stability. The CPU should suffice on its own. If needed, you might upgrade the case or cooler, but unless it's severely limiting performance, upgrading isn't necessary. A larger drive could also be an option if desired. These choices depend on your specific requirements.
System looks pretty good. I guess if you are Gaming in 4K you would concern yourself with the VRAM on the GPU, which would ideally be 8GB or more. If I were you I would install and Benchmark the new GPU then find some reviews where they ran the Card in PCIe Gen 4 and compare your results. There may not be much in it. If on the other hand there is a big margin of difference, consider an X570 MB.
The system is operating smoothly. When used with the 6600XT, the remaining components will function effectively. It should deliver optimal results in most gaming scenarios.
