What are you trying to achieve with this new system? If it's primarily for gaming, a 3600 non-X model would still be beneficial. Should you wait for the next Ryzen release, the cost would remain comparable, unless your focus is solely on the 4 series transitioning to a lower-priced 3 series version.
I saw the Gamer's Nexus video and it really clarified what we already understood... Upgrading makes sense, though it's not a game-changer. Still, some titles would definitely gain a lot from it.
AMD's clock speeds are currently leading, while their real performance lags behind. This is the latest development, not the Haswell era discussed by others.
Usually I play games, but it can slow down a lot when I do many things at once and download torrents often. That was unexpected for me.
Torrents handle large amounts of data, which makes sense given my setup. I was okay with my 3570k for most games, but I needed a system that didn’t slow down CPU-intensive titles like Witcher 3, GTA V, and Skyrim. I went all in. There were good deals from stores offering both CPU and Mobo components together at a better price than buying separately.
They lag behind in latency, which accounts for why, despite similar single-threaded performance between 3000 and heavily clocked Intel chips, the 3000s still trail in GPU unlimited gaming situations. The 4th generation seems addressing this latency problem while boosting IPC, making it a strong challenge for Intel. If I had to wait, knowing this would arrive and my setup remained adequate, I’d hold off for the most obvious improvements.
Absolutely, latency played a big role in AMD's lead over Intel at that stage. I could handle the cost and still manage to play Cyberpunk 2077 smoothly, especially since I often run Android apps for mobile games. It's great to have everything running without problems and be able to stream at decent quality.
I’m excited about Cyberpunk 2077! It’s worth thinking about how a stronger GPU might boost performance.
