CPU: 5-core 2600X MHz, Elite B450 RAM, 3200MHz, 8GB storage
GPU: Vega 56, updated to 64GB SSD, 6TB HDD, 700W smart RGB with deepcool v2 and six fans
Original consideration: Threadrippers, now aware they don’t match quality
Price estimate: around 400-450 GBP

Plan ahead for future technology. Your computer is quite modern. If you wish, I can upgrade the graphics card.

If something needs changing, focus on the GPU. Hold off until September when Big Navi launches and consider getting a new one or a 5700xt, which should be available on sale. Switching to threadripper might be worth it, but your budget isn’t sufficient for that upgrade.

No, the Vega 56 is not notably slower than the 5700xt.

The 5700XT offers significant enhancements over the Vega 56, with improvements ranging around 30% in many scenarios, particularly at higher resolutions.

You can also receive a tr4 model at 1900x and it will feel much cooler for £450

I use 4K which is quite challenging. My initial idea was to switch to the new rDNA 2, but I’ll check the 5700 xt. Another question is whether the drivers are still faulty or if they function properly.

For 4K gaming you’ll need to consider a CPU upgrade too. I favor 2K over 4K, even if my system isn’t at the desired 4K level. Plan to wait until September for Big Navi and the new 4th generation Ryzen chips, save a bit extra while you wait so you can upgrade both CPU and GPU.

First generation Threadripper isn't a good investment. For better value, opt for the 2nd or 3rd generation. Ideally, hold off until September to get the 4700x version, unless you need heavy video editing, rendering, or 3D modeling—then a Threadripper might not be worth it.

Sure, I'll let you know. Upgrading to a X470 570 or B550 is worth it if you need better performance for your current setup.
