Current system specs include a Ryzen 7 3700X, Aurora Pro 3070TI, and 32GB RAM at 3000MHz. I’m using the Wraith Pro cooler in an NZXT H510 compact case, which isn’t ideal for airflow. I’m considering upgrading to a better case and cooler for improved cooling. Since this Ryzen 7 is the latest generation, I’m thinking about moving to a Ryzen 9 5900X or 5950X. I’m unsure if the investment would be worthwhile given that the 3700X remains solid and seems compatible with my 3070TI, which was an upgrade from the 1660 Super. I play a variety of games, from triple A to competitive eSports, currently at 1080p with plans to switch to an HDR-enabled 1440p display. I’m open to advice from anyone who has made similar upgrades or knows what such changes look like. This is my first build, so I don’t have exact performance numbers yet. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
I use a 3700x setup and have thought about upgrading several times, but I haven’t found it necessary. For gaming, it still works well and might give you a few frames per second, though not enough to justify the cost. I’d hold off on an upgrade until the next generation unless needed. My monitor is also 1440p widescreen with 4K displays, and the 3700x handles everything just fine.
