03-08-2020, 02:03 PM #2For a GTX 1050ti, the investment makes little sense unless you're into competitive esports titles and require high frame rates. In that case, a Ryzen 3 3300x would be a better choice, especially if you need to upgrade your motherboard.

Well you'll need a new board and a new set of ram as well.. Wait for zen 3 and check what it has to offer and decide, the 1050ti will hold you back though because well it's not the most capable card so you can also look at upgrading that, but I wouldn't get a locked Intel chip in all honesty and I wouldn't get a b or an h series boards for LGA 1200..
you have a solid setup mainly for competitive games. a new cpu would need a fresh graphics card and additional memory, but the 1050 ti is likely to limit performance with a 10600. honestly, i wouldn’t invest in a locker intel chip unless it offers real long-term value—it’s just extra money for a basic upgrade. go with a 10600k, a solid z490 board, and 16gb ram. aim for 320mhz cl16 to 4000mhz cl18—personally, i upgraded from an i5 3550 and saw a huge jump: max settings gave me 50 fps, high settings kept it steady at 50, medium at 50, and low at 60. now with my current setup, i’m getting 80-90 fps on ultra. a good cpu is key for smooth frames, but you’ll also need a stronger card to match the 10600/10600k.
