Your CPU is causing issues with your GTX 1070, so checking benchmarks for the i5-9600K makes sense. Upgrading from the i5-8400 could be worthwhile if it significantly boosts performance.

Check your mainboard model to determine if it's a Z370 or Z390 board.

It shows a moderate boost in frequency and a slight IPC rise. You should see some gains, though the improvement won't be substantial. If the cost is reasonable, it might be worthwhile?

It offers a quicker CPU and improved clock speeds, but you won’t be able to push it beyond the limits of the motherboard.

Are you sure the K means overclocking on any mainboard? I'm still learning about this topic every day.

They might be more affordable because of fewer choices. Ideal for CPUs outside the K series.
