Consider Unifi Fiber Direct burial or Building Bridge options.
Consider Unifi Fiber Direct burial or Building Bridge options.
I’m planning to expand my garage network by adding a connection about 30-50 feet away. I’ve learned that burying RJ45 cables directly isn’t recommended due to risks like lightning damage. I have two choices: [Option 1] using the main house router with UDM PRO fiber and a direct cable, or [Option 2] using the main house router as a building bridge with a UDM PRO bridge.
Use direct burial cable for a hassle-free setup. https://www.fs.com/products/106591.html?...&id=614942
This cable and optical module connect the router to the switch.
I’d prefer to install the direct bury fiber first, then place a conduit with a pull cord nearby for easy adjustments or troubleshooting.
If you're investing time in a conduit, why opt for direct burial instead? Just use regular fiber and a pull cord. The main goal of direct burial is to avoid laying conduit and reduce expenses overall.
