Typically, most Linux distributions are relatively lightweight. For an extremely minimal setup, consider options like xubuntu or Peppermint.

Thanks, but I could consider installing elementary OS since I upgraded my laptop.

It's fine that OpenSuSe is small—most distributions share that trait. Why not test a couple of LiveUSB versions first to check out the experience before committing?

I run on Lubuntu and my nearly ten-year-old laptop performs perfectly.

The Dell model you're considering is Elementary. Its specifications include [insert specs here]. For your laptop's main purpose, please clarify—do you need something focused on customization or top-tier performance? This will help tailor the suggestions effectively.

Elementary feels a bit tough for me. I suggest @GabenJr's preferred Pop_OS or start with Ubuntu.

You might have Win7 installed because it was downloaded or kept for compatibility with older software.

You should choose KALI if you're confident, otherwise Linux Mint is a better option for beginners. I quickly switched to KALI and nearly damaged my PC—don't make that error because troubleshooting there can be very challenging. You'll need some advanced coding skills to follow the guides properly.
