When I return to my PC in two weeks, I intend to upgrade the Vega 7 driver for my Ryzen 5 5600G (downloading the necessary software). I realized I missed doing it earlier because I received the PC a day before I left. Should I turn off Windows 10’s automatic driver installation for the future? Since I know Windows often has very old drivers, I just want to be certain it won’t cause any issues later. Thank you.

I’d likely believe it would make sense since windows handle these tasks, and getting files directly from the site or through software is more dependable.

I considered this mainly due to concerns about Windows possibly adding an older driver instead of the updated one, as some users have reported this issue.

Usually the issue stems from a manufacturing error. If this occurs, you can either fix it yourself or leverage Microsoft tools to prevent that specific driver version from being shipped. Here is the download link (Windows 10 & 11): http://download.microsoft.com/download/f...de.diagcab -- This post has been moved to the Windows subforum section.

You can prevent a driver update from being applied by using Wushowhide's settings to block updates for specific drivers.

Execute it and it displays the upcoming driver update if available. Choose the version that creates problems for you, then click Next. It will remain unseen or disregarded until the manufacturer releases a new driver version.

Thank you. I’ll turn off automatic driver updates via the control panel and save Adrenaline along with the drivers after I’m back home. I’ll also grab Wushow Hide if Windows 10 attempts anything unusual. Thanks!

Most users don’t mind. They rely on Windows Update to handle everything. After completion, the system restarts, then updates any missing drivers and frequently updated ones—though it’s rare to find the newest versions, such as GPU drivers.

I hope I’m not the only one, but we’ll find out. Back when I had an Nvidia GPU, Windows didn’t interfere with my drives—thankfully—but I’m still unsure about AMD right now.
