Consider upgrading your Dell Vostro 3700 to 8GB DDR3 at 1066mHz SODIMM. Check compatibility and ensure the motherboard supports the new RAM speed.

First check if the upgrade is feasible; it's likely you've already verified that. You might not have much option but to opt for a RAM upgrade from Dell, so be prepared for that scenario.

Any brand can work as long as it suits the setup. Confirm the sticks share the same frequency—mismatches may slow performance, but they won’t limit capacity.

It seems DIY isn't widely practiced in this area. I was considering purchasing used sticks to cut costs, and the RAM is upgradable.

I understand your question. I'm checking if anyone has a favorite brand or if there were any negative experiences with specific brands.

If unsure, choose Crucial, Corsair, or Gskill. For this case, any affordable option works just as well.

This purchase helps avoid many of our issues with a certain brand since problems affecting you would likely have affected the original owner too.
