The Mint UI closely resembles the Windows interface. It's quite straightforward (at least that's my impression). 3) I discovered my laptop runs both Windows 10 and Linux Mint, using dual booting. Switching from Windows 8 to Windows 10 while the Mint OS was still active worked smoothly. Reinstalling Windows shouldn't affect your Linux installation if done properly. Currently, I can't reach the files on the Windows partition because an error indicates Windows 10 was hibernated instead of properly shutting down (which it wasn't). I used to be able to fix this when installing on my main machine.

I'm already aware that the UI in Ubuntu isn't my preference, and I don't think Mint would be any better. The CLI feels a bit overwhelming to me—I once caused Ubuntu to crash using it. We set up a Samba server (finally remembered!), which allowed multiple users, and I managed to get it running. But the next day, when I tried to log in, all server users appeared as login options. That was expected, but what surprised me was that I couldn't access any of them, not even the Samba ones or the main account. It seems the password file was damaged somehow. I eventually gained root access by navigating to a pre-login menu and using memtest, probably.

Consider a dedicated HDD with higher priority, but use a USB drive that includes the bootloader; if you lack the drive, it will start in Windows.

This setup seems quite challenging... Yet intriguing nonetheless. What steps would you take to transfer the bootloader? And why choose an HDD when your operating system could run better on an SSD?

During installation, you get to choose the location for the Bootloader. I frequently use it to protect my thin-clients.
