Consider the power supply wattage that matches your new GPU's requirements.
Consider the power supply wattage that matches your new GPU's requirements.
I initially intended to use the RTX 5070 and opted for an 850w PSU along with the 7800X3D. I understand it should work well with the 7800X3D, but is 850w sufficient? The estimated power requirement is around 550, so I feel confident it’s enough, just seeking another perspective.
I initially intended to choose the RTX 5070 and proceeded with an 850w PSU and 7800X3D. Ask first, then buy. Not the reverse. Could you tell me the make and model of the PSU you selected? The estimated power is around 550 watts, so I thought I had sufficient capacity but wanted a second view. Where did you obtain that figure? It doesn’t appear in the link you shared: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/ge...0-ti.c4243. Keep in mind that aftermarket AIB units overclocked from the factory need more power. If you need to return the unit, could you share your location? What is your budget for a PSU purchase? Which store do you prefer for buying one? Also, what is the model of your case? If we face any size issues with the PSU, let me know.
I own the Corsair RM850x modular psu paired with a Hyte y40 case. My PC parts list indicates a power rating of 550 watts. When I first purchased everything, I thought 750 watts would be ideal for a 5070, but I opted for an additional hundred just in case. Recently, I decided to upgrade to the 5070ti for more VRAM, and I think I also overclocked it. I also have a 7800X3D and an MSI MAG x870 motherboard.
This Corsair RM850x modular PSU is compatible with the newest RMx models, whether they have the ATX3.1 version or the Shift variant.
I think it’s the 2024 ATX3.1 model. I purchased it on sale for $80 a few months back. The other unit that looked identical but had more reviews wasn’t available for sale, so I chose this one. Even though it’s older (2024), I’m pretty sure it still works fine? Thanks for your assistance! Here’s the link in case you need it:
