I’m unsure which of the three options to choose at the moment—only what each brings in terms of performance versus cost, setup, my loyalty to Intel, and the rig’s lifespan can guide me.
Do not let overly optimistic vendor synthetic SSD ratings mislead you. These are generated using software that forces the SSD to operate at its peak capacity with queue sizes around thirty. They are performed on fresh, unmodified drives to ensure consistency. Most users on desktops tend to focus on just a few actions at once, resulting in queue lengths of one or two. The key factor is response time, especially for random I/O operations. This is primarily managed by the operating system. For that purpose, current SSDs show very similar and quick response times. My advice is to avoid partitioning an SSD. There’s no noticeable performance loss, and it’s likely that one partition will always be full while the other has spare space. Gen5 works, but I question whether the extra cost is justified. I prefer Samsung products because they manufacture their own NAND chips and controllers, allowing better quality control and integration. Many others build SSDs using components from external suppliers. When it comes to RAM, the main priority is securing sufficient capacity upfront. Adding RAM later might not be effective; the speed must match the RAM’s capabilities. Higher RAM speeds can increase latency, which reduces some performance gains. Consider dividing the workload based on the cas size.

The other key consideration will be cost, especially when purchasing.
If performance improves only slightly—say by 2% or 3% but becomes 15% more expensive—I’ll consider other choices.
