it hasn't been a game in a while that caught my attention, so I haven’t played much lately. fallout 4 is now on sale—worth the 40 euros? does it offer deep, long-term gameplay like gta v did, or is it more shallow? it should have great graphics. with an i5 4690k and a gtx 970, can i achieve 60fps at high/ultra settings?

I don't think it's that good value - I paid a lot for it and would estimate around 30 euros. I have a comparable build with 4460 and a GTX 970, achieving 30 to 60 frames per second at high settings. Checking forums and Reddit shows this title isn't well optimized for certain hardware. Some users with 980 Ti cards still report drops to 30-40 FPS in parts of the map.

Game falls short compared to New Vegas, though critics still praise it. In the meantime, I haven’t seen enough changes to feel it’s worth revisiting—unless the development team delivers a proper overhaul soon.

It's one of those titles I'm eyeing when it drops around $10 during the next Steam summer promotion. I might wait a few years to snag it at that price, but I'm flexible.

It compares to earlier Fallout titles in a modest way (Bethesda has been refining this approach), yet it remains quite satisfying. If you skip the main storyline, you can still enjoy a substantial amount of gameplay (I’ve spent around 100 hours and am roughly 75% through the central quest). However, those who prefer only wandering might find it a bit dull. Your PC should handle it without issues—it shares the same engine as Skyrim, keeping frame rates stable. Unlocking higher settings can improve performance, though you may encounter some unusual physics effects. Overall, you’ll likely achieve steady around 60 frames, especially in less crowded zones.

I just purchased it yesterday and used it for about four hours. It’s quite enjoyable, but I’m unsure if it’s worth the 33 dollars I spent. I wouldn’t likely buy it again.

I own Fallout 4 but don't enjoy it much. I prefer Grand Theft Auto V instead.

FO4 is an excellent game. This one focuses more on action and shooting compared to RPGs, yet it remains quite enjoyable. It offers over 200 hours of content quickly.

The critics often liken it to New Vegas because they see Fallout 3 as superior. The open-world features are the only similarity. Most who dislike it either don’t enjoy the series or got excited too early. Only a small portion have solid reasons—some bought it at launch for $60 and played extensively, others paid $25 for DLC and now enjoy it. Based on my experience, I paid roughly $0.34 per hour and found it worthwhile. It’s a good investment if you’re willing to commit time. Check reviews and videos before deciding. The system works fine with proper setup.
