Consider purchasing either a downloadable format or a DVD version of Windows, as both options are available.

Available in a downloadable format to ensure recovery if corrupted, unlike the DVD version which cannot be restored.

It's irrelevant actually. ISO files can be converted into DVDs and DVDs can be made from them.

I've never encountered anyone fixing the data on CD/DVD that's been damaged or corrupted.

It really doesn't matter. With a valid key, you can obtain an ISO from Microsoft.

I understand that possessing a valid key allows you to obtain an ISO from Microsoft, which isn't surprising. Keep in mind that the person asking might prefer not to repeatedly create a new ISO onto a DVD whenever the existing one becomes damaged or unreadable.

It's the same, so you can obtain a physical version just for that. You're free to download the ISO or use the upgrade tool from the MS site no matter whether you already have a DVD or key. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...t-key-only
