Hey! You're planning to build a new PC in two weeks—great timing! Win 7 is still supported up until 2020, so you have some flexibility. For Windows 10, the exact release date isn’t set, but it’s expected around late 2021 or early 2022. As for older games like BF3, Win 10 should support them, though compatibility can vary. Using a newer OS like Win 10 usually brings better performance and newer features, so it might be worth upgrading if you want the latest experience. Win 8 is still solid but not as recent as Win 10, so sticking with Win 10 could give you more current gaming benefits.

Considered it but I want a CD for Windows 10 so I can reinstall it whenever required to clear the PC.

You can find Win7 at a low price on ATM so just purchase it cheaply then buy multiple copies? Personally, I don't prefer version 8.1 (I own it on my laptop and used it at work), it slows down navigation and overall usability. Version 7 is significantly better for me, so it could suit you too. P.S. If folks insist on installing a start menu, I'll ignore them—I do so and it's still worse than Win7 for me. It's not just about the start menu.

Achieve 8.1 unless you have no tolerance for it.
