Thanks for the responses. I wonder if it's better to save the AM4 motherboard or just upgrade everything? I'm okay paying more if the performance value makes sense for 1440 gaming.
The Ryzen 7 5700X3D offers the best performance for gaming at this price point. At $210, it provides a bit more gaming capability than the 14600k, which is sufficient for 1440p resolution. I would opt for the 5700X3D and allocate the savings to upgrade to a GPU such as the 7800XT or 4070 Ti.
