You’ve lost the dual-channel benefit with just one stick. Check your mainboard manual for available settings. If you already have 2x8GB, it might not work well in the second channel. Note: it supports 1, 2, or 4 dimmers—so a single stick is possible unless you have other restrictions.

I never considered my motherboard compatibility before; I thought I could use three sticks. It’s better to get two 8-pin ones. Thanks!
