Hello everyone, I've been thinking about this and checked different perspectives. The main point is whether Chrome OS could serve as a Windows alternative. In my view, it could work if it offered custom hardware support, ISO downloads, and PC game compatibility. I’d even consider buying a license if those features were available.

I didn’t upgrade because I missed the opportunity. Upgrading a friend’s laptop from 8.1 to 10 was easy, but I forgot. Your experience shows that sometimes upgrades are possible if you’re ready.

The disk was left behind after I performed a clean installation of Windows 10, and it occurred several years ago.

The free version ended this year, yet I upgraded two Windows 8.1 installations to 10 this year and it doesn’t require a license. It remains free.
