I own a 2017 ASUS ROG Strix that's growing more challenging to operate. It feels sluggish and less responsive, and it's starting to irritate me. The system uses a 1070 graphics card—do you think this type is still suitable for multiplayer gaming in 2023? Some say it works fine, but I'm still uncertain.

Eventually, how irritated you feel will take precedence over what others say.
You're the best person to decide when that happens. No one else can see the measurements on your irritation scale...your frustration level.
When you hit that stage, it's not considered practical—it's unsustainable. You'd change it then, unless there are bigger constraints like budget or resources in your area.

It seems you're prepared to switch to a different laptop if needed. Your satisfaction with the current one hinges on whether the internal components meet your needs for performance and visual quality.

the moment to upgrade comes when it stops meeting your requirements.
before that it's just a waste.
it's most likely you're still using the Windows installer that came with the device.
a fresh installation can help, though it won't instantly turn it into a modern laptop.
still, Windows does need occasional updates.
