Hi, I recently purchased a used PC with the following components: i5-6600k, Asus H170M-Plus, Ram Kingston KHX2133C14 16GB, Gigabyte gtx 1070 Ti, Corsair cx750M 750w, and Nox hummer mc case. I installed a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 CPU air cooler to enable overclocking. However, I discovered the motherboard doesn't support overclocking. I'm curious if upgrading the motherboard would help. I've seen a used Asus Strix Z270f gaming PC for 50€, which seems like a good deal. Additionally, could this new motherboard allow me to utilize higher RAM speeds even though the CPU is capped at 2133MHz, using other RAM I already have?

I don't have a definitive answer, but I can help you explore it. The 6600K's maximum RAM speed is often cited as 2133 MHz, but actual performance depends on the motherboard's capabilities and compatibility. Check your specific model's specifications for accurate details.

Older gen processors such as the 6600K can be effectively overclocked by around 30%. The Z170 offers an opportunity to experiment with this. However, recalling past attempts, it seems there was a concern about ram performance that discouraged any attempt at overclocking it. Graphics card speed has minimal impact on overall performance in such cases.
