Hello everyone. I'm considering switching from a Radeon 5700 Xt to a Nvidia 4070 because the older card has been causing issues (it crashes on desktop even with Adrenalin, and afterburner helps but still happens). I'm new to upgrades, so I want advice on what to know or any extra parts I should get. My current setup includes: CPU - AMD Ryzen 3600, PSU - Thermaltake 700W, GPU - Asus B450-PLUS, Case - MIDI MSI MAG VAPIRIC 010.
When changing from AMD to Nvidia or vice versa, always run DDU in Safe Mode to delete the previous drivers before adding the new ones.
Before deleting gou, obtain the newest Nvidia driver using DDU. Clear all AMD Radeon drivers. Replace the old card with a new one and boot into Windows. Install the Nvidia driver download on step 1—ideally with internet turned off to avoid installing outdated updates.
