I was aiming to finish the Metro series eventually—after waiting a long time and playing many titles, there wasn’t much time left. August 26th feels like the ideal date to begin the Redux bundle. Should I tackle it on the toughest settings for deeper immersion, or should I start with a more moderate difficulty? Here’s a quick overview of my preferred difficulty levels: Extremely tough but still achievable, generally a good mix of learning and skill, not just luck-based, but mostly about understanding the game. Below are some games and their typical difficulties: Gears of War Judgment (insane challenges, especially the onyx tasks), Halo ODST on Legendary… with a friend (hard solo experience), Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2 was surprisingly easy), Mile High Club, Perfect Dark (one of the higher ones if not the hardest), Assassin's Creed... difficulty isn’t the main factor, I found 3 to be the toughest, though even that felt too simple. For my second try, I plan to play Survivor on Normal. Based on this, would playing Metro on hardcore Ranger (or whatever it is) be too tough for me, or should I begin with a normal setting for a better experience?
Consider playing the games you have on hand—they’re fairly straightforward. If you struggle, give Stalker a try with the MISERY mod.
You wanted to try playing Metro, but the games you mentioned aren't that tough. Metro can be quite challenging, especially on harder settings. The MISERY mod is meant for Call of Pripyat.
I'm planning to tackle tougher titles too, keeping in mind that these aren't all my victories—just a handful of favorites. For the initial run, I'll probably go with Metro at standard settings if it's truly among the more challenging games available.
I succeeded against Metro on hardcore. I think it's worth it, though a lower difficulty works too. On hardcore the enemies feel more intense and a small error can lead to instant death. That really boosted the immersion. I highly suggest S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call of Privacy with the difficulty setting if you manage Metro. It’s truly a masochist's dream. (And there’s also Dark Souls 1 using mouse and keyboard — that’s a key point)
Playing Metro LL on its initial rounds adds a tougher challenge and enhances enjoyment. However, the absence of helpful HUD elements is disappointing, and ammunition supply is limited.
I found it incredible with the metro games. The scene when you nearly finish a whole room and then meet the final player is intense. Pulling the trigger only to hear the sound of an empty space adds such tension!
I relied solely on bullets for targets, opting for my knife and throwing knives when necessary for taking down opponents
