I recently moved from Sky to Virgin. At first, the boost in Mbps was impressive. By the end of the day it seemed to have stopped. I’m considering a new router to replace my just received Hub 3.0. What options under £50 would work well? I can’t use Ethernet.

It means you can't switch it to another connection type, but you can still use it with a modem. The confusion about Ethernet likely comes from thinking it's required for all setups.

Yeah that's what I mean. It isn't logistically viable. I'm the only person using a desktop and there's a door between me and the router.

I don't have a direct measurement, but I can help you determine your distance from the router if you provide more details about your location or network setup.

There's a wall and a door, several meters. I'm not going to be able to use ethernet, logistically and I live at home my mum isn't going to let me have an ethernet cable running from the living room.

Fair enough, but inquire with her. Check if she’s willing to let you. I’ve got a cable running from the living room to my other end.

I possess a 220Mb/s Virgin connection. I experienced some Wi-Fi problems with the Hub 3, so I opted for a router/AP. I selected the TP-LINK Archer AX10 which functions well so far. Place the Hub 3 in modem mode and connect an Ethernet cable between the Hub 3 and the new router. The new router will now receive the Public IP on the WAN interface.
