You can replace your motherboard with a newer model (B450 to B550) to support PCI 4.0, but make sure the rest of your system is compatible. You may need to reinstall drivers and possibly reactivate Windows. Check your boot drive and hardware connections before trying it.

It's okay as long as the BIOS recognizes the CPU. I don't think swapping in a new drive will help.

I removed the chipset drivers myself before making the change. After everything worked, I installed the proper drivers for the B550.

For PCIe 4.0 compatibility, choose a board like B550 or X570. Some B450 models might work in certain beta systems or older BIOS versions, though it’s not very dependable. If you’re expecting Ryzen 4000, there will also be the chance to get an x670 later.
