Consider purchasing the Ryzen 5000 now or waiting until after its release?
Hello, I'm a software developer who mainly uses my PC for coding and gaming. Right now I have an older Intel i7-4770S with a GTX 1080 graphics card. I'm excited to upgrade to a newer CPU, especially since the Ryzen 5000 series is performing well compared to the last generation. The main question is whether prices will drop significantly for Ryzen 5000 CPUs and motherboards in the next couple of months? I plan to buy either a 5800X or 5900X based on price differences, and I'm looking for budget-friendly options with NVME 4.0 and at least four RAM slots on the motherboard. In the coming two months, both the new Zens and 14th gen models will be installed on that build... it’s best to hold off until the new parts arrive. Intel is offering DDR4, AMD is supporting D5, but it seems unlikely you can afford the upgrade right now—so stick with Intel unless you’re looking for very affordable D5 modules. Additionally, both platforms include 5.0 SSDs by default, which could be useful for software development tasks.
